Vintage Photos of Gay Couples

Below is the touching inscription that is on the back of the photo above.

If you enjoyed these vintage photos of gay couples, please subscribe to the Homo History blog. There are links at the top and very bottom of every page.

These photos are just a small fragment of our gay history; unfortunately so much of it has purposely been destroyed. Since most of the men in these photos are unknown, it's pretty much impossible to tell it they were a gay couple or just "good friends." Most photos of gay couple were eventually destroyed by embarrassed family members. For every photo that I may have mistakenly identified as gay, hundreds more were burned or torn in to pieces to keep a family secret.

Thanks,
Jeff

  1. The photo of the lifeguards and the inscription on back--so touching.

  2. It is only now-the beginning of the Twenty-first Century- that we are being legitimized by society. These iconic photographs aptly show that we've always been there!

  3. I love to look at the old pictures and imagine that the guys are in love, and will live long, happy lives together. I know that is not one bit realistic; just one mistake could mean the very end of their lives. I am sure the ones that really were in love had stolen moments that they treasured. We can't begin to imagine how careful they must have been. I like to think that they are together and very happy now!
